eLearning Tool Kit – 12 Nov 2013

Posted by Hugh on November 13, 2013 in Instructional Design and eAuthoring, Reflection |

Today we had a very informative presentation by Clare Gormley. Clare is a freelance Instructional Designer and she is also a past pupil of the MSc in Applied eLearning. As part of her project she developed the eLearning Tool Kit, htpp://elearningtoolkit.pbworks.com, to try and putting everything a designer would need in one resource.

The site is split into three areas; Tutorial 1 gives an overview of Instructional Design, ADDIE and Learning Outcome Refreshers; Tutorial 2 looks at why design matters, design approaches and an introduction to storyboards; Tutoral 3 recaps 1 & 2 and has an interactive questionnaire.

Clare’s top tips are:

  •  Put yourself in the learners shoes
  • Use MOOKs
  • Look at what is already out there (don’t reinvent the wheel)

Clare also introduced us to the Ouldi Card to assist designing courses. I have shown them to people at work and they are interested in using them for the next course redesign. We have also used them in our project work.
