Learning Theories Week 5 (15 Oct 2013)

Posted by Hugh on October 15, 2013 in Learning Theories, Reflection |

During this session of the Learning Theories module we were given the opportunity to give a 10 minute presentation on how we are going to tackle the assignment for the module.

I put forward my plan for the assignment explaining that I do not have any professional experience that I can base it on so I am using my experience as a Scout Leader and training Youth Members.

I will be going into some detail about Behaviourism, Constructivism, Constructionist and Communities of Practice. Through feedback to me and other I have identified a couple of other new authors I can read to get such as Bersin, Salmon, Moules, Goslin, Kimble, Tennant and Bonk.

I will need to read into Knowles Pedagogy vs Andragogy and that the latter applies only to adults. In this case I believe that it Andragogy can be applied from the age of 13 years old.

There is a blend of styles used in the Scout Troop from Behaviourism through Cognitivism and Constructivism up to Social Constructivism. Certain element also include Constructionism.
